Biography

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia aka Akshay Kumar of bollywood was born on 9th September 1967, he is an Indian cinema actor who has appeared in more than hundred hindi movies. He was well known for his action movies initially because of his dangerous stunts in his films. Over the time he gained popularity in other genres like romance, comedy and drama.

Akshay was born in a Punjabi family, his father was a government employee in Amritsar. Akshay became popular as a performer from a very young age, he was particularly known for his dancing. He was brought up in Chandni Chowk neighborhood of Delhi before he moved to Mumbai. After moving to Mumbai he livedin Koliwada, the neighborhood was full of Punjabis. He joined Don Bosco School for his studies and then continued his education at Guru Nanak Khalsa College.

Before moving to Mumbai, Akshay Kumar learned martial arts and worked as chef in Bangkok. Then he moved to Mumbai and started teaching martial arts there. Luckily one of his students was a photographer and he advised Akshay to start modeling. The student provided Akshay with a modeling assignment for a small company. Akshay Kumar got paid Rs.5000 for posing in front of the camera for couple of hours, and this was one of the main reasons why he chose modeling as his career. Akshay was offered main role in the movie “Deedar” produced by Pramod Chakravarthy after couple months of modeling.

Akshay Kumar dated many of his co-workers, such as Raveenta Tondon and Shilpa Shetty. Finally, he married actress Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna. Now he has a son named Aarav born in September 2002.
