Bipasha Basu Biography
Bipasha Basu is an Indian film actress born on 7th January 1979, she is a former model with height of 5’81/2” and her nicknames are Bonny and Bips. She was the winner of Ford’s Godrej Cithol Supermodel contest held in 1996.
Bipasha Basu was born in New Delhi on 7th January 1979 to a Bengali family. She has sister named Bidisha who is elder to her and she also has a younger sister named Vijayeta. Bipasha’s family moved to Kolkata later.
Initially Bipasha had planned to study medicine, but she was carried on to modeling and then entered into acting by accident. Till 12th standard, she studied science at Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir and then continued her education in the field of commerce at Bhawanipur Gujarathi Education Society College, Kolkata. She did modeling and part-time ramp shows. She met famous model Mehr Jessia in 1996 in Kolkata, she suggested Bipasha to participate in Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest. She participated and also won the contest.
Bipasha mad her movie debut in Abbas Mustan’s Ajnabee, along with Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar. She won the Filmfare best female debut award for performance in that movie. Bipasha appeared in Telugu film “Takkari Donga” and Vikram Bhatt’s hindi movie “Raaz” in 2002. Raaz was a huge commercial success and it was the biggest hit of that year. She earned best actress nomination for the film at the Filmfare. Then in 2003 she appeared in a critically acclaimed movie “Jism” with John Abraham. Apart from movies she also did Sonu Nigam’s video album “Tu”
Bipasha appeared in the multi-starrer action thriller “Race” in 2008 and the movie did well at the box office. Bipasha has been dating actor John Abraham since 2002 and they are considered as supercouple in the industry.
